The opportunity
QC Lab Assistant
Under the direction of the functional leader this role performs various activities to support the QC lab teams which includes maintaining an adequate supply of clean glassware, plasticware and lab consumables as well as handling lab-generated waste ensuring the proper removal. Provides basic services to support QC analytical testing and product release in a safe, timely, cost-effective, and compliant manner.
How you’ll spend your day
Performs daily washing activities related to the timely supply of clean glassware/plasticware and other related supplies required by the QC Lab.
Performs both mechanical and manual washing procedures in order to provide clean glassware/plasticware according to standard operating procedures.
Stocks and organizes glassware/plasticware so they are easily accessible, visible, and in ready supply in all designated areas of the lab.
Inspects glassware/plasticware for GMP or safety defects and removes defective units from circulation.
Labels and maintains all storage areas in a clean, organized and safe manner.
Regularly replenishes paper towel and soap supplies within the laboratory.
Notifies direct Supervisor of any extra glassware/plasticware requirements to ensure the right amount remains in ready supply.
Initiates and participates in cost awareness and reduction initiatives that relate to laboratory glassware.
Performs daily activities related to the timely receipt and stocking of QC Lab supply shipments. This includes but is not limited to chemicals, solvents, gases, filters, safety supplies, and technical supplies.
Works closely with Shipping and Receiving Department to transport incoming QC shipments to designated storage areas upon delivery.
Receives incoming QC orders/shipments using various software programs and e-commerce web sites.
Labels consumable supplies/chemicals as required with pertinent GMP information in accordance with standard operating procedures.
Stocks consumable supplies so they are readily accessible and visible for lab use. Maintains all storage areas in a clean, safe and organized fashion.
Tracks and removes expired chemicals and solvents from laboratory use on a monthly basis.
Acts as a primary resource for the removal and/or transportation of waste generated by the laboratory.
Provides suitably labelled containers to hold laboratory waste in accordance with approved waste streams.
Prepares and/or transports waste for disposal purposes.
Corresponds and schedules waste pick ups with both internal and external waste disposal contacts.
Monitors and reports on waste practices and waste consumption.
Performs other related duties within the QC Lab as required.
