Supervise/Manage activities/projects to maintain and resolve existing issues with & upgrade/improve equipment, systems, and facility Automation & Controls
Carry out supervisor & managerial responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies, procedures, and state, federal, and local laws
Supervise/Manage aspects of Automation Systems and BMS Systems Administration (Programming, Processor Upgrades, Controls Issues, Database Backup)
Manage/supervise a team of PLC specialists and provide guidance and expertise for the operation and maintenance of computer-controlled automated equipment
Plan, manage, and implement automation hardware & software for equipment & systems
Review & audit automation/controls design and procurement by controls integration firms
Supervise some Automation & Controls internal & contract personnel
Troubleshoot, increase system robustness & reduce downtime or new projects
Develop / Review electrical drawings of control panels and schematics
Develop / Review automation user & functional requirements & design documentation
Develop & maintain tags, I/O listings, and instrument indexes for automation systems
Manage/maintain automation & control system documentation and drawings including P&IDs & PLC source code
Program PLC/HMI for smaller scale projects and control system upgrades
Coordinate & manage loop tuning, process controls performance improvements
Support equipment qualification for automation & controls
Support OpEx/Lean project initiatives & OEE improvements
Perform related duties as assigned
Your experience and qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering or a related field from an accredited college or university
Minimum of five years of experience in Automation & Controls engineering, preferably in a pharmaceutical environment, or an equivalent combination of training and experience
Strong understanding of Process Controls and Systems Integration, preferably associated with solid oral dose/packaging equipment (Fluid Bed Dryers, Coating Pans, Tablet Presses, High-Speed Filling Lines, etc.)
Independent and motivated individual with the ability to deliver on and manage multiple projects
Minimum of three years of experience with Allen Bradley PLCs and Wonderware InTouch software (Control Logix, SLC/PLC5 RSLogix5/500, Industrial Application Server)
Proficiency in Ladder Logic Programming, High-Level Languages such as Visual Basic, Strong Computer PC/ Proficiency, Excel, and Microsoft Word
Basic knowledge of TCP/IP and control networks (Ethernet IP, DH+, DeviceNet, etc.) and database experience (Microsoft SQL Server, Industrial SQL)
Knowledge of Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and related federal, state, and local laws, codes, regulations, and regulatory requirements
Proficient in English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation
Proficient at communicating clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
Experience in training and coaching
