The opportunity
Position Summary: A packaging Line Mechanic with mechanical abilities who is able to function as a Packaging Mechanic and willing to also perform the duties of a Packaging Operator and/or Line Leader. Require ability to troubleshoot PLC electrical/mechanical issues on packaging equipment. Role is M-F 3pm-11pm
Essential Duties:
• Knowledgeable in mechanical / electrical / Controls & Automation associated with Packaging Equipment.
• Knowledgeable in Equipment trouble shooting. Able to assess impact on equipment /anomalies.
• Understanding of basic Mechanical and Electrical concepts.
• Able to make effective decisions and take action based on deductive reasoning and potential product impact.
• Able to change over packaging line equipment from one size and product to another accurately documenting the activities in accordance with procedures.
• Able to perform corrective and preventative mechanical and electrical maintenance and adjust equipment to meet desired output speeds and quality.
• Able to multi task and process multiple sensory inputs, reacting to alarms and indications as well as trends.
• Operate Packaging Line and Equipment as per Packaging Batch Record for maximum output, smooth/safe operation and quality compliance.
• Identifies areas of improvement safety, quality and productivity.
• Able to navigate OIT’s (Operator Interface Terminals) and comfortable with recipe entry / verification and basic calculations associated with performance measurement.
• Takes responsibility, overcomes obstacles, and escalates issues at the APPROPRIATE time / finds a way to meet commitments. Superior can do attitude.
• Able to respond to faults and error messages, to assess potential product impact and act to identify and address root cause.
• Able to provide the help and support to other packaging lines and or Packaging personnel as needed.
• Effective verbal skills, imparts urgency with Quality. TEAM PLAYER. Able to identify improvement opportunities in given processes / procedures.
• Knowledge of CGMP, SOP, Lock Out Tag Out, DEA and OSHA regulations required.
• Maintain area orderly and clean during all operations.
• Capable of persevering, extended hours.
• Execute functions and required tasks of Material Handler and/or Line Leader when required.
• Ability to train other Packaging Technicians and Operators/Material handlers/Line Leaders.
• Must be able to read, write, speak and comprehend English.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by Supervisor/Manager.

Qualification and Requirements:
Education:
High School Degree Required, Technical / Trade School Required, Equipment / Trouble Shooting Training desired,
Experience:
Minimum of 2-5 years’ experience in FDA regulated environment desirable
Specialized or Technical Knowledge, Licenses, Certifications required:
Knowledge of various Packaging Equipment e.g. Tablet/Capsule Slat & Channel Filler, Bottle Unscrambler, Cottoner, Capper, Desiccant Inserter, Induction Sealer, Labeler, Case Former.
Knowledgeable in mechanical / electrical / Controls & Automation associated with Packaging Equipment.
Knowledge of Aggregation process on the packaging lines.
Physical Demand Requirement:
Able to lift up to 50 lbs throughout shift
Able to wear appropriate safety gear
Able to perform strenuous repairs for ~ 6 hr/shift
Able to stand for ~ 6 hr / shift
Able to work at elevation with appropriate safety gear
